Lance Baldo
Lance Baldo, M.D. has more than 20 years of leadership experience in biopharmaceuticals including the successful launch of two new indications and a new formulation for Lucentis while at Genentech.
Most recently, Lance served as Chief Medical Officer at Freenome, an early cancer detection company, where he led the design and execution of the Company’s medical strategy to support its pipeline, from clinical trials through registration and commercialization. Prior to Freenome, Lance was Chief Medical Officer at Adaptive Biotechnologies, serving as a member of the senior leadership team through the transition from a private to publicly traded company. He has held numerous roles within the Roche Group and its affiliates, including Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. Medical Affairs of Genentech and Franchise Head for Ophthalmology. He also served as General Manager for the Roche Pharmaceuticals business in New Zealand and as a Global Medical Director for Roche Global Product Strategy in Basel, Switzerland. Before joining Roche, Lance held roles of increasing responsibility at The Medicines Company, culminating as the Global Vice President of Medical Science and Affairs. He also founded a venture capital-backed medical software company, MedAptus, Inc.
Lance holds an M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Johns Hopkins University.
